For universities and educational institutions
Africa Our Home works with universities, colleges and educational institutions to develop and coordinate meaningful academic experiences in West Africa.
From faculty-led programs and public health placements to historical study and multi-country learning experiences, we help institutions connect academic objectives with local knowledge, educational opportunities and community contexts in Ghana, Togo and Benin.

A local partner for international education
Developing an international academic program requires more than selecting a destination. It requires an understanding of local contexts, reliable coordination and the ability to connect institutional objectives with appropriate learning opportunities.
Africa Our Home works alongside faculty leaders, international education offices and academic departments to develop programs that reflect their educational goals.
Our work is grounded in West Africa, supported by relationships with local educators, health professionals, institutions and community organizations.
We recognize that every institution has different priorities. Our approach is therefore collaborative and flexible, with program activities developed around academic objectives and local feasibility.
What we can coordinate

Academic experiences designed with faculty leaders, combining educational discussions, field-based learning, cultural activities and relevant excursions.

Learning opportunities in areas such as public health, education, technology, sports and community development, depending on qualifications, supervision and host arrangements.

Opportunities for classroom observation, educational activities and teaching assistance in collaboration with local educators.

Experiences introducing participants to local traditions, cuisine, history and everyday life through educational and cultural activities.

Customized learning experiences exploring African history, heritage, cultural connections and the relationships between West Africa and the wider African diaspora.

Institutional experience · Collaboration in practice
Our experience includes working with students and educational institutions on different types of learning experiences in West Africa.

AOH worked with Seattle Colleges on a public health-focused program in Keta, Ghana. The experience involved engagement with local health facilities and community health activities, providing participants with opportunities to learn about public health in a local context.

AOH coordinated a student placement that included public health in Keta, Ghana, and clinical health in Lomé, Togo. This experience illustrates the possibility of developing placements across different professional and geographical contexts.

AOH coordinated a multi-country academic experience exploring the history of the transatlantic slave trade, African heritage and cultural connections across Ghana, Togo and Benin. The program included historical sites, cultural learning and opportunities for reflection.
These examples describe past program experiences. They do not imply ongoing institutional agreements or guaranteed availability of identical programs.
One regional partner. Three West African destinations.
AOH's presence and experience across three neighboring countries creates opportunities for institutions to explore different perspectives within one regional program.
Public health, education, community learning and historical study.
Educational and professional placements, cultural immersion and culinary learning.
Historical heritage, cultural traditions and regional historical connections.
Institutions may focus on one country or explore customized multi-country experiences, depending on their academic objectives and the feasibility of local arrangements.
How we work with universities
We discuss your academic themes, learning outcomes, participants, preferred destinations and institutional requirements.
We explore suitable activities, learning contexts, local relationships and practical arrangements that align with your objectives.
We present a proposed program for institutional review, including the activities and arrangements that can be confirmed.
Once a program is agreed upon, we work through the necessary preparations with the institution and relevant local contacts.
Program activities, placements, accommodation and other logistical arrangements are discussed and confirmed individually. Their availability depends on institutional requirements, local partners and practical feasibility.
