About AOH Global Programs

What is AOH Global Programs?

AOH Global Programs is an initiative operated by Africa Our Home (AOH), a nonprofit organization committed to expanding educational opportunities, digital empowerment and cross-cultural collaboration. Through our Global Programs initiative, we connect universities, educational institutions, individual participants and local communities through meaningful learning experiences in Ghana, Togo and Benin.

What types of programs does AOH offer?

AOH coordinates several types of international learning experiences, including:

  • Faculty-led and customized university programs.
  • Internships and professional placements.
  • Education and teaching experiences.
  • Culinary and cultural immersion.
  • Historical and cultural immersion.

Programs can be customized to meet the learning objectives and interests of participants and institutional partners.

Where do AOH Global Programs take place?

Our programs take place in Ghana, Togo and Benin. Depending on the objectives and design of a program, experiences may take place in one country or across multiple destinations in West Africa.

Programs and Participation

Who can participate in AOH Global Programs?

Our programs welcome individual participants, university students, faculty-led groups and other organized educational groups. Eligibility requirements depend on the nature of each program, its objectives and the requirements of local host organizations. Contact AOH to discuss your interests and determine which opportunities may be suitable.

Can individuals apply directly, or must they come through a university?

Both options are possible. Individuals can contact AOH directly to explore available opportunities, while universities and educational institutions can request customized programs for their students or groups. Individual participation and group arrangements depend on program availability and requirements.

Are programs available throughout the year?

Not all programs operate continuously throughout the year. Some are organized periodically, while others are developed specifically for university groups or institutional partners. Contact AOH to discuss your preferred dates and current opportunities.

How long do programs last?

Program duration is customized according to the objectives, planned activities and needs of each participant or group. AOH works with participants and institutional partners to develop schedules that suit their learning goals and practical requirements.

Can participants earn academic credit?

Academic credit is determined by the participant's home university or educational institution. AOH can discuss program objectives, activities and structure with institutional representatives to help them assess whether an experience meets their academic requirements. Participants should consult their academic advisors before enrolling.

How are internships and professional placements organized?

Placements are coordinated according to program objectives, participant backgrounds and the availability of suitable local hosts. AOH works with local professionals and organizations to establish appropriate learning environments, expectations and supervision.

Specific activities and responsibilities depend on the host organization and the nature of the placement. Participation in clinical, classroom or other professional activities should never be assumed without prior confirmation.
