PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Climate and Coastal Learning in Keta

Keta, on Ghana's Atlantic coast, offers an opportunity to explore coastal environments, environmental challenges and the relationship between communities and their surroundings. Through locally grounded learning experiences, participants can develop a deeper understanding of environmental responsibility, coastal change and community resilience.

Opportunities depend on local arrangements and current availability. All placement details must be confirmed directly with AOH before making any plans.

Understanding Keta's Coastal Environment

Keta is a coastal community in Ghana's Volta Region that faces coastal erosion and related environmental challenges. Coastal environments are closely connected to community life, and environmental change can affect the people who live and work along the shoreline.

Understanding these challenges requires listening to local perspectives and recognizing community resilience. Learning experiences are arranged in collaboration with local partners and depend on current availability and permissions.

Learning Through Environmental Action

AOH's Experience in Environmental Engagement

Africa Our Home has organized environmental activities in Keta, including beach clean-up campaigns and tree-planting initiatives involving previous program participants. These activities were carried out in collaboration with local environmental NGOs.

Through these experiences, AOH has connected international participants with local environmental efforts, encouraging environmental awareness, community engagement and a deeper understanding of environmental challenges.

Building on this experience, AOH seeks to develop educational opportunities exploring coastal environments, environmental responsibility, climate-related challenges and community resilience.
